    Ben Simmons career timeline

    1. Philadelphia 76ers · 2016–2022

Draft — June 23, 2016 — drafted #1 overall by Philadelphia out of LSU. Missed entire 2016–17 (Jones fracture); Rookie of the Year, three All-Stars, All-NBA Third, two All-Defensive First Teams before the 2021 Atlanta collapse and Feb 2022 Harden trade.

#1 pick who became ROY, three-time All-Star and DPOY runner-up — then the Atlanta Game 7 pass and a holdout ended the Embiid partnership without another Sixers minute.

    2. Brooklyn Nets · 2022–2025

Trade — February 10, 2022 — Brooklyn acquired Simmons from Philadelphia in the James Harden blockbuster with Seth Curry, Andre Drummond and two first-round picks. Never debuted that season (back surgery); later buyout Feb 2025.

Harden-trade centerpiece who never debuted healthy that spring — two back surgeries and a buyout later, Brooklyn never got the All-Star it traded for.

    3. LA Clippers · 2025

Free agent — February 10, 2025 — cleared waivers after Brooklyn buyout and signed a rest-of-season deal with the Clippers beside Kawhi Leonard and James Harden. Eighteen regular-season games as a reserve; five playoff games vs Denver.

Buyout vet minutes behind Harden and Leonard — useful in stretches, then squeezed out of the Denver playoff rotation.

    4. Sacramento Kings · 2026–present

Free agent — September 4, 2026 — agreed to a one-year, $3.52 million contract with Sacramento after sitting out 2025–26. Extensive medicals, workout, and meetings with Doug Christie before the deal.

One-year prove-it deal after a full season away — Sacramento is betting the healthier player it evaluated can still pass, rebound, and defend.
