    De'Aaron Fox career timeline

    1. Sacramento Kings · 2017–2025

Draft — June 22, 2017 — drafted #5 overall by Sacramento (Kentucky). Eight seasons as the Kings' franchise guard: All-Rookie leap, 25+ PPG scoring peaks, 2022–23 All-NBA Third Team and Clutch Player of the Year runner-up on the 48-win play-in team. Re-signed to a 5-year, $163M rookie max extension in November 2020 (with 30% super-max language). Traded to San Antonio in the February 2025 three-team Zach LaVine blockbuster.

The fastest guard in the league spent eight years as Sacramento's identity — from 11.6 PPG rookie to back-to-back 25+ PPG All-Star seasons and the 48-win 2022–23 team that finally broke the playoff drought. The Kings moved him at the 2025 deadline when the LaVine swap reshaped both conferences.

      Awards: 2022–23 NBA All-Star, 2022–23 NBA All-NBA Third Team

    2. San Antonio Spurs · 2025–present

Trade — February 3, 2025 — acquired from Sacramento in the three-team Zach LaVine / Kevin Huerter blockbuster with Chicago. San Antonio sent Zach Collins, Tre Jones, and a 2025 1st (CHI #12 — Noa Essengue) to Chicago and Sidy Cissoko plus four future picks to Sacramento. Season-ending pinkie injury March 13, 2025 cut his first Spurs stint short (17 post-trade games). Re-signed on a 4-year, $221.76M extension August 4, 2025 and made the 2025–26 All-Star team.

San Antonio paid the LaVine-market price to pair a proven All-Star lead guard with Victor Wembanyama — Collins, Jones, a lottery pick and four future selections to Sacramento. Fox's pinkie ended his 2024–25 cameo at 17 games, but the $221.76M summer extension locked him in as the Spurs' max point guard; he's been an All-Star in 2025–26 running the Wemby/Castle offense.

      Awards: 2025–26 NBA All-Star, 2025–26 NBA Cup All-Tournament Team
